Akai MPC Sample – Unboxing & First Look | Music Gear Mondays

Quick Look at the New Akai MPC Sample – What’s in the Box + First Impressions

In this episode of Music Gear Mondays, we’re taking a quick first look at the brand new Akai MPC Sample.

This is not a full deep dive—just a what’s in the box, powering it on, and my initial reaction to the latest addition in the MPC lineup.

If you’ve been following the evolution of the MPC, you already know how important this series is to hip-hop, house, and modern beat production. So anytime a new unit drops, it’s worth checking out—even if it’s just to get a feel for what’s new right out of the box.

What’s in the Box

In this quick unboxing, we go over everything included with the Akai MPC Sample:

  • The MPC Sample unit

  • Power cable / USB connection

  • Documentation & quick start materials

First impressions right away—the unit feels clean, minimal, and very much in line with Akai’s modern MPC design language.

First Power-On & Initial Thoughts

After turning it on for the first time, my goal here wasn’t to dive deep into features—but just to get a feel for the workflow and overall vibe.

Right away, you can start to see how this device is positioned:

  • Fast access to sampling

  • Immediate hands-on control

  • A familiar MPC-style layout

This feels like something that could easily fit into a quick idea capture workflow, especially for producers who want to stay creative without overthinking the process.

Why This Matters

The MPC has been a cornerstone in music production history—from early hip-hop to modern electronic music.

Devices like this continue that legacy by making beat making more accessible and portable, while still keeping that signature MPC workflow alive.
